February, Glasgow: Cold, wet. So what the heck is a gigantic wasp doing droning around my lounge? Hnngh?! I tried asking it, but it chose to dive into the vacuum cleaner instead, so my interrogation was fruitless.

Here’s one for you: calculate the velocity with which a wasp is slammed against the far wall of your vac bag (or sucked into the vortex of your Dyson).
Since I’m currently making an engineering show, I think the appropriate approach would be to instrument a wasp and attempt to collect data from it.
snort well, yes … And here was me digging out a tape measure and a stopwatch.

Seriously, now would be a good time to check your attic[0] and outbuildings for wasp nests. She could have been an outgoing or incoming queen, and the nests are pretty much defunct this time of year, so take the opportunity to do a bit of genocide.

attic is a habitual spasmodic contraction of the muscle, and a loft is a storage place, usually, at the top of your house in the roof cavity.
